Boogie Scarves

Boogie Scarves is a chapter of the project Made to Measure about translating organ music into woven textiles. The silk scarf design is a direct copy of the organ book. It has exactly the same shape and layout as the organ book of Red Bank Boogie and is woven full-size. The rectangles on the scarf are the punched holes that decide which sounds are played by the organ and even the separate pages can be found in the design. As one organ book has many pages, it is spread over five different scarves, which together form the Red Bank BoogieAn experienced organ builder would be able to 'read' from the scarf which piece of music he has before him.

Boogie Scarves was commissioned by and is held in the permanent collection of the Zuiderzeee Museum, NL.
